Executive Director
Peggy Schmitt
Revels is pleased to welcome Peggy Schmitt as the new Executive Director. Peggy brings with her a lifelong passion for sharing cultural tradition and song. Peggy is excited to work at furthering the Revels Houston mission, celebrating multicultural tradition through music, drama and dance and increasing awareness of Revels throughout the community.
Before joining Revels Houston, Peggy served as the Executive Director of the Japan-America Society of Houston, an organization dedicated to preserving and presenting Japanese cultural arts, providing educational resources to the community, and producing Houston's annual Japan Festival. Her background includes experience with business and nonprofit management, sales and marketing, educational enrichment, and presenting culinary classes.
In her spare time Peggy volunteers with AFS - working with international exchange students from many different countries. She enjoys travel, music, art, outdoor activities - camping, hiking, canoeing, and stargazing - and is a passionate supporter of Houston's arts community. Peggy has one beautiful daughter, Kristin, and a worthless cat, Smokey.
Artistic Director
Beth Sanford
Beth Sanford was part of the Alley Theatre staff for more than 25 years, most of them as Resident Director. She directed more than 60 productions, two of which toured Nationally: 'The Miracle Worker' and 'A view from the bridge'. In1988 she edited and adapted the simultaneous translations for the Alley Theatre presentation of the Lithuanian State Theatre's productions of 'Uncle Vanya' and 'Pirosmani, Pirosmani'. In 1993 Sanford was honored by Houston Women in Theatre for almost 30 years of distinguished work.
Ms. Sanford was Associate Artistic Director at Stages Repertory Theatre for 5 years before joining the faculty of the University of Houston. She is currently on the Faculty of St. John's School. In 1996 Ms. Sanford was appointed Artistic Director of Revels Houston, where she has served for 10 years.
Music Director Judy McEnany
Judy has been involved in choral work for many years. She held the position of Head of Music at the Awty International School from 2000 to 2005 and served as Fine Arts Chair and Director of Choral Music at Lamar High School from 1979-1999. In 1997, the Texas Exes Association and the College of Education at the University of Texas selected her as one of ten Texas teachers to receive the Award for Excellence in Teaching for High School Teachers.
As an active member of Texas Music Educator’s Association where she has served as Region and Area Audition Chair, and All-State Choir Organizer. She is a member of the American and Texas Choral Directors’ Associations and has served on the Texas board as High School and College Vice-President.
She has served as Chorus President for Houston Masterworks Chorus and is currently serving as Vice President for Cultural Programs for the Houston/Galveston Stavanger Sister City Society. In addition, she serves on the Sister Cities of Houston board of directors.
Judy became Music Director of Revels Houston in 2004, having been introduced to Revels by her close friend and colleague, Diane Denson Tobola, former Revels Music Director. She is now leading the chorus into her third production.
In addition to her work with Revels, Judy is a volunteer accompanist for Lord of the Streets Episcopal Church. She and her husband, Michael, attend Christ Church Cathedral where they serve as ushers.
President
Cathy Troisi
Cathy Troisi has been involved with Revels since 1992 when she sang with the chorus in the Appalachian show. Since then she has performed in ten shows and has served on the Revels Houston Board of Directors since 2001. Cathy grew up in Plattsburgh, NY and holds a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She is Assistant Director for Disease Prevention and Control at the City of Houston Department of Health and Human Services and adjunct assistant professor of epidemiology at Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas School of Public Health.
She’s been married to Ric Stoll, a backstage Reveler, for thirty years and they have three children, Greg (Revels chorus, 2002), Jessica, and Carrie (Revels children’s chorus, 1992). Their house is the official Revels party house. Cathy has sung with Houston Masterworks Chorus for six years and besides music, enjoys knitting, reading, exercising, and flamingos.
