To the Shores of "Amerikay," an Irish Immigrant Saga
Bring the family and join Revels and Revelry for a summer production at the Texas Seaport Museum and the Tall Ship "Elissa" in Galveston, Texas! Realizing a dream of almost 25 years in the making, Revels Houston's Revelry presents a story filled with song, adventure, and folklore. Follow a band of Irish immigrant families as they struggle to make a living on their farms in Ireland. The potato blight leads to further hardships and the hard decision to leave Ireland for "Amerikay". They meet and make friends with the crew of their ship (a cameo appearance by the "Elissa"). They swap songs and stories with the sailors about the work, food, games and loved ones left behind, and about the new land, “Amerikay”. By the end of the voyage, the immigrants are looking forward to making a new life along the rivers of Texas.
